Project 7: Mobile Multi-Media Replayer (MoMuMar)
Overview:
Objective
This project's scientific goal is the analysis of agile software development
methods for small projects. Particularly, the project investigates to what
extent very short feedback cycles with
prioritized temporal scheduling, focusing on simplicity, early customer
involvement, automated tests, permanent code review, distributed code ownership,
and continuous code integration with concurrent revisions and improvement of programs
are influencing the quality and productivity of software development.
Further aims are the elaboration of a usability test procedure for mass applications
(large scale applications?) on mobile devices. A particular objective is the
adaption of agile software development methodologies to mobile devices.
Project Description
As an application and test object, a multi media replayer for mobile devices shall be
developed: Radio and TV programs (news, interviews, documentaries, talk shows) can
be identified and retrieved by searching for words that have been spoken in
the corresponding TV or radio programs or appear in a program's title: A kind of
Google for TV and radio on mobile devices.
Scenario TV-archive for subway-riders
A user traveling in the underground searches for "Michael Schumacher".
The system presents a list of programs where the name "Michael
Schumacher" has been mentioned, sorted by their temporal occurence.
The user may select the 3rd entry.
cost information for retrieving the specific topic for video or audio only.
The user selects audio and video.
The Video-Player shows the selected video on the user's mobile phone.
Scenario radio archive for car drivers
A user listens to the last sentences of a radio broadcast over
GATS. He/She still has to travel with the car for about half an hour,
therefore she/he searches for the keyword "GATS".
The system responds that there is a series with 4 topics.
The user selects the first topic.
The system provides cost information for retrieving the audio material from the archive
The user acknowledges the specific selection.
The audio player plays-back the specific material over the car's speaker.
In both scenarios a user can continue to listen to or continue to view a media stream interrupted at any earlier time, e.g., that was stopped one week earlier.
