Project 2: Test-Management, Test-Methodologies, and Certification

Objective

From Soft-net Austria's perspective, it is necessary to conduct application-oriented research in the test case generation domain on three levels:

(1) research in the area of Test Management
(2) research regarding Testing Methodologies
(3) research in the area of Quality Assurance and Certification

Industrial project partners of this project are SMEs as well as large-scale enterprises: Siemens AG Österreich, Programm und Systementwicklung (in the following referred to as Siemens PSE), Cicero Consulting GmbH. (short Cicero), and Cirquent GmbH. (short cirquent). The academic partners, the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (short SCCH), and the Institute for Software Technology of the Technische Universiät Graz (short IST), bring in expertise in test management and testing methodology, as well as verification techniques.

Project Description

In subproject (1) "Test Management" a tool (so called TestCockpit) for managing the test process is executed with novel techniques for test management. The subproject (2) "Testing Methodologies" extends exisiting tools (IDATG, SiTEMPPO) with novel methods and techniques for test case generation. Finally, in subproject (3) "Quality Assurance and Certification", we elaborate a general framework for the adaption of techniques and procedures. This framework can be instantiated for various business sectors (e.g. automotive industry, embedded systems, the assurance and finacial domain) and is adaptable to different certification standards.
